Dale Hollow Lake

620 Miles of Shoreline

It’s not clear who coined the phrase “The Great Outdoors,” but we have that in abundance in Clay County. Celina is the southern gateway to Dale Hollow Lake, and the abundance of outdoor activities that happen around that body of water.
Unsurpassed water purity and clarity are also a big part of the history of Dale Hollow Lake. In addition, the lake attracts about three million visitors annually. Dale Hollow and the surrounding area provide recreational opportunities in many areas. These include fishing, hunting, camping, boating, canoeing and kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, scuba diving and other activities.

Adventure Awaits

Set Sail

Dale Hollow Lake is a haven for houseboating. Pickaslip.com rated Dale Hollow as the top houseboating destination not only in the U.S., but on the continent. It was ranked ahead of such vacationing heavy weights as Lake Powell in Utah and Lake Mead near Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. In addition, Dale Hollow made Houseboat Magazine’s top 10 Best Houseboating Lakes in America.

Then there’s the smallmouth bass fishing. Not only does the lake hold the world record, it holds the top three spots, 6 of the top 10 and 10 of the top 25 ever caught. When we say DHL is the smallmouth capital of the world, it’s not bragging — it’s just stating fact.
